A  violent domestic dispute  escalated into a scene of spectacular destruction in Pennsylvania, USA. A man allegedly demolished his own home with an excavator, moments after his wife announced her intention to divorce him. The incident, which occurred on May 26, led to his arrest and an upcoming court appearance.

An argument that escalates after a divorce announcement

According to information reported by local authorities and the complaint filed by the wife, the man returned to the family home after consuming alcohol at a party.

An argument reportedly broke out between the couple at their home in Buffalo Township, Pennsylvania. Amid this already tense situation, the woman is said to have announced her intention to file for divorce.

It was at this point that the situation reportedly took an unexpected and particularly violent turn.

An excavator used to demolish the family home

According to the investigation, the man then allegedly made an explicit threat, indicating that if the separation was finalized, he would destroy the house.

Shortly afterwards, he allegedly left the home, got into an excavator and began demolishing the family home.

At the time of the incident, his wife and children were still inside the apartment, which immediately prompted an intervention by law enforcement.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

Alerted by the mother, the authorities went to the scene to secure the area and find the suspect, who had fled after the incident.

The man was eventually apprehended by the police.

According to the information provided, the damage caused to the house is very significant, to the point of calling into question the very stability of the building.

The suspect must now answer for his actions before the American justice system.

He is being prosecuted for disturbing public order and  endangering the lives of others . His trial is scheduled for June 9.

Meanwhile, his wife initiated divorce proceedings and sought a restraining order to protect her family.
