A comical adventure: the confessions of four fishermen on a getaway
At the break of dawn, four companions, equipped with hot coffee and fishing gear, position themselves on the shore of a serene lake. The peaceful atmosphere is broken by laughter and stories that enliven their morning.
Very quickly, the discussion turns to spouses, and with a touch of self-deprecation, each reveals the compromises they had to make to enjoy this long-awaited weekend.
Commitments that deserve a weekend
The first man, slightly bitter, begins the discussion:
"You can't imagine what I had to promise! My wife made me promise to repaint the whole house next weekend. Every fish I catch will cost me a can of paint!"
The second one bursts out laughing and replies:
"Painting? That's child's play! I, on the other hand, had to commit to building a deck for the pool. Do you know how much that costs? And how many weekends it's going to take me?"
The third one, shrugging his shoulders, displays a mischievous smile:
"You're all novices! I had to spend a whole week at my mother-in-law's before coming here. And it's not over yet: I have to redo her bathroom when I get back!"
The last one, after a brief silence, displays a satisfied smile and murmurs:
"I came without any promises."
Surprised, the other three turn towards him:
"How did you do it?"
He shrugs his shoulders with a small laugh:
"When my alarm went off this morning, I simply said, 'Fishing or no fishing?' She grunted and let me go."
Lesson learned: play your cards wisely
This anecdote amusingly illustrates the sometimes strategic and comical interactions between husbands and wives. Between outlandish promises and little tricks, each finds their own way of carving out these moments of freedom. After all, a little fishing (and a lot of humor) is worth a few compromises, isn't it?
