Favorite characters from the movie "Home Alone" who are no longer alive

Home Alone is without a doubt our favorite Christmas movie and we look forward to it every December, even though it was released over 35 years ago. But because the movie is so old, a number of the actors from the classic film have already passed away. Some of them you might not have even suspected…

On January 30, 2026, Hollywood woke up to the news of the death of actress Catherine O'Hara, who played the role of Kevin McCallister's mother.

A total of 18 actors who starred in one of the parts have already passed away, and some of them you know very well. We will introduce you to the most famous actors from "Home Alone" who are in a better world...

Roberts Blossom

You know him well. This is old Marley, played by Roberts Blossom. Kevin Buzz's (Devin Rattray) brother claimed that the eccentric Marley killed his entire family and mummified their bodies.

But just when it seemed like it was a bit too much for a children's movie, it turned out that he was just a lonely old man who no longer saw his family. Blossom died at the age of 87 in 2011.

Eddie Bracken

The comedian played the role of toy store owner Mr. Duncan. He ran Duncan's toy store in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. The store was the location of the final "battle" between the lost Kevin and the thieves Marv and Harry.

John Candy

Comedy legend John Candy, best known for his role in Planes, Trains and Automobiles, played Gus Polinski, the Midwestern polka king, in Home Alone.

The actor died at the age of 43 while filming Wagons East back in 1994.

John Hurd

This is the news that may surprise you the most. Kevin's father Peter, played by actor John Heard, has also left this world.

In Home Alone, we didn't know much about the father, other than the fact that he was wealthy enough to take his entire family on vacation regularly. He could also afford a huge house with glittering Christmas decorations.

Also known for his roles in Big, Awakenings and The Sopranos, he died of cardiac arrest in 2017, at the age of 71.

Ralph Foodie

This is the guy who has few sentences but says one of the most catchy lines in the movie.

"Keep the change, you filthy animal!" remains a timeless classic to this day.

An actor named Ralph Fudi plays the role of Johnny, the gangster in the parody film "Angels with Dirty Souls."

He died of cancer in 1999 at the age of 71.
