At the end of the day, 16-year-old Kylian came through the front door of the house with a baby in his arms. From the kitchen, his mother, Laurence, looked up and froze. “Kylian, where did this baby come from?” she exclaimed, rushing towards him. The teenager paused briefly before answering confidently: “Mom, I found him alone in the park. There was no one around and it was getting dark. I didn’t know what to do, so I brought him here.” Laurence’s heart began to pound. The infant, who looked only a few months old, was carefully wrapped in a blanket and had his eyes half-closed. Without hesitation, she grabbed her phone and called the police. A few minutes later, officers arrived. Kylian explained the situation: he had found the baby on a bench near the playground, well covered but completely alone. At 16, Kylian pushes open the door of the family home holding an infant against him – his mother can't believe her eyes.                                                   

That day, on his way home from school, the teenager had no idea he was about to embark on an extraordinary adventure. In his arms was a baby he had just found, abandoned on a park bench. His life had just taken an unexpected turn.

His mother, Laurence, frozen in surprise, immediately questioned him:

"Kylian, where did this baby come from?"

The boy, still in shock, recounts: he discovered the infant alone on a park bench as dusk was falling, with no one else around. Not knowing who to turn to, he decided to take him home.

Without wasting a second, Laurence dialed the police number.

The investigators enter the scene… and a father's instinct awakens

A few moments later, the officers arrived on the scene. Kylian recounted the events to them in detail. One of the officers, after listening attentively, reassured him:

"I understand what you did... and you reacted correctly."

But who is this baby? Was it deliberately left there? Is a family, somewhere, searching for it?

First step: a complete medical check-up. At the hospital, the doctors declare the infant healthy, but hungry. Still anxious, Kylian then makes a request that surprises everyone:

"Can I stay with him? I just want to make sure he's okay..."

The police officer gives his consent. His mother, deeply moved, chooses to accompany him.

What future awaits this little being?

At the hospital, a social worker, Ms. Routelous, takes over.

"What you did today was exceptionally courageous," she told him.

However, no missing child report was recorded… Kylian and Laurence then understand a painful truth: this baby was probably intentionally abandoned.

Faced with this uncertainty, Kylian asks a question that shakes his mother:

"Mom... do you think we could take care of him, just for a while?"

Laurence is a single mother, she works hard… but she sees how much her son is affected by this story.

A few days later, the social worker called them to tell them that they could take in the infant as part of an emergency placement. They named him Elliot.

A glimmer of hope for the future

But one day, a phone call changes everything:

"We found Elliot's mother."

She is a young woman in great distress, barely older than Kylian, who no longer knew how to cope. Supported by social services, she expresses the desire to resume her role as a mother.

Little by little, she is rebuilding her life.

For several months, Laurence and Kylian watched Elliot grow up in a stable and loving environment. One afternoon, after a final visit to Elliot and his mother, Sarah finally broke the silence:

"I'm proud of you, you know."

Kylian will never be the same after this experience… And he knows he has changed a child’s destiny.
