Louis and Théo were 16 years old. One day, they came across an old man lying by the side of a quiet path in the woods, murmuring an almost inaudible "Help!" They rushed to him, helped him up, and offered him water. His name was Michel; he was 72 years old, trembling, and looked exhausted. He was walking home from shopping when he suddenly felt weak, collapsed, and tumbled down the slope. Broken eggs and spilled milk littered the ground around him. "I don't know... maybe I've been here for an hour," Michel murmured. "Let's call an ambulance," said Louis. "No! It's fine. I just needed to get up. I can walk. Thank you, boys, I'll manage," Michel insisted, leaning firmly on his cane. "We'll walk you home." “We’re on our way anyway,” said Théo, putting an arm under Michel to support him. When they arrived at the house, the boys were stunned. It was an old, dilapidated caravan, practically in ruins. “I want to reward them,” said Michel, taking out his empty wallet. Embarrassed, he took an apple from the table and offered it to them instead. They left, but the next day they returned with bags of provisions overflowing with food, as well as fabric and materials to repair the caravan. Michel almost burst into tears when he saw the bags filled with fruit, vegetables, and everything else he needed. From then on, the boys visited him twice a week. They had become his family. Until the day… Michel disappeared. His caravan was empty. They looked everywhere for him, but he never came back. They never saw him again. Years passed. Théo and Louis turned 18. Then, one day, they each received a call. "Hello. My name is Alexandre," said a voice. "I'm your friend Michel's lawyer. I'd like to invite you to my office. It's important." The boys had no idea what awaited them. That afternoon, they entered the lawyer's office. "Why did he call us?" asked Louis.

Louis and Théo, two best friends aged 16, were known in their high school for their seriousness, kindness, and generosity. Coming from modest families, they had learned very early on the importance of hard work and helping each other.

One autumn afternoon, as they were walking home as usual along a small wooded path, the two teenagers heard a faint cry for help. Intrigued, they rushed over and discovered an elderly man lying on the ground after a bad fall.

A solitary life in a dilapidated caravan

The old man, who introduces himself as Michel, lives in an old, dilapidated caravan, isolated by the side of a road. The dwelling is modest, fragile, and visibly in poor condition.

The next day, they return with shopping bags filled with provisions bought with their meager savings. Fruit, bread, jam, everyday items… they bring everything they can to improve their daily lives a little.

A friendship that becomes a family bond

What was meant to be a one-off visit quickly became a habit. Over the weeks, the two teenagers made a point of visiting Michel several times a week.

They help him repair his caravan, bring him food, talk with him for hours, and listen to his many life tips. Very quickly, Michel becomes much more than an elderly neighbor to them: he takes the place of a true grandfather figure.

With his wisdom and gentleness, he imparts phrases to them that they will never forget, such as:

Then, one day, Michel disappeared without warning.

Surprised and worried, they go to the meeting together without knowing what awaits them.

That's when they learn the news: Michel has passed away peacefully and left behind a letter addressed to them.

In this moving letter, the man reveals a secret he had always kept from them: contrary to what they thought, he was not without resources. Once the head of a successful company, he had voluntarily left his comfortable life after realizing that those around him were more interested in his success than in him as a person.

He explains that by meeting Louis and Théo, he finally discovered what sincere affection was.

One last, even more incredible surprise

But the letter doesn't end there.

Michel announces to them that he has decided to pass on a significant part of his estate so that they can continue their studies without difficulty and realize their dream of becoming teachers.

A sum that completely changes their future.

Thanks to this gesture, Louis and Théo were able to finance their studies and build the careers they had so hoped for.
